Overview

LOCATION: Warwick, QLD

Team: Double M Productions — Eddie, Levi, Emily, Hannah and Erin

Event: Australia’s most famous rodeo & the iconic Gold Cup Campdraft

Warwick Rodeo & Gold Cup Campdraft is one of those events that feels bigger than a single arena — it’s the most famous rodeo and campdraft in Australia, and for one week the town turns into a hub of cattle, horses, dust, die-hard fans, and some of the best riders in the country.

We were brought in to capture the full story: daily reels, interviews, atmosphere, action, and a long-form hero video that shows the true heartbeat of Warwick. Seven days and a whole lot of dust later — we delivered a full content package across social media, broadcast and long-form storytelling.

The Breakdown — Day by Day

Days 1–3: Campdraft Kicks Off

The opening three days were all campdraft — sunrise starts and non-stop action.

Eddie handled all b-roll, wide scenic shots, stockwork, and the overall feel of the grounds. Creating Fast to slow action reels

Hannah ran daily interviews with competitors, families and event staff, building the narrative for the nightly highlights.

All short-form content (reels + interviews) was turned around same day, edited on-site and posted by that night.

Days 4–7: Rodeo Begins

From Day 4, the arena fired up — and so did the workload. This is when Levi, Emily and Erin joined Eddie and Hannah giving us the extra manpower to properly split coverage between the rodeo and the campdraft arenas.

The team kept the same routine: shoot all day, edit late into the night on-site, and post first thing in the morning.

Broadcast Contribution:

Supplied footage to Channel 7, Channel 9, and Channel 10 for news coverage

We knew going into Warwick Rodeo & Gold Cup Campdraft that it was known as the most famous in Australia but we wanted to know why. It was clear by the end of our 7 days of filming and a multitude of interviews that we could see why not only from the spectators thought so but why the competitors did too. Warwick gave us the perfect blend of tradition as well as high stakes action, allowing us to create a cinematic piece that we hope highlights the people, stories, and the culture that make Warwick the Most Famous in Australia"

Reach & Impact

Using collaboration reels between Warwick Rodeo, Double M Productions, and Mallee Media, the combined content achieved:

Vector (3).png

850,000+ views across the 7 days + following week

High engagement through shares, comments and community interaction

Vector (3).png

Extended reach through national television outlets

Vector (3).png

Strong brand exposure for Warwick’s signature events

The real-time posting helped keep fans updated as the event unfolded, while the long-form videos created lasting pieces Warwick can use for future promotion.

Reflections

Warwick was one of those jobs that balanced hard work with genuine enjoyment. Long days at the arena, dusty cameras, editing under lights at night, and a team that worked in sync — it all came together to tell the full story of Australia’s most iconic rodeo and campdraft.

Between the action, the interviews, the stories, and the fast turnaround, the week reminded us why we love covering rural events: real people, real stakes, real moments. We left Warwick with full memory cards, a hero film we’re proud of, and a deeper appreciation for the community that makes this event legendary
